Mendip District Council Local Plan part II

After a lengthy battle in 2016, your Parish Council, with a great deal of help from other Councils and individuals managed to get the Planning Officer's approval recommendation for 188 houses and a school due north of the White Post Inn overturned and the Council in the end recommended refusal.

We considered at the time, that we had won a considerable victory. We didn't know what was going on behind the scenes and it appears that our District Councillors at the time either didn't know about it or chose not to tell us.

The problem all along with Mendip District Council and others is that, throughout, all proposals have been listed as being 'on sites adjoining Midsomer Norton and Radstock' and no mention has been made of being in Stratton on the Fosse, of being in Kilmersdon, or as being in Ston Easton. As a result, we have missed out on consultations, both on a local District Level and indeed at a Government Inspector Level, whereas other Parishes such as Norton St Philip, Selworthy and Rode have been involved throughout.
