Stratton on the Fosse Cricket Club

History and Introduction

Stratton Cricket Club was established in 1920 and ran as a friendly fixture side for many Years. It has close links with Downside School and has both teachers and pupils who regularly play for its teams. It plays its away games in May/June and home games later at the glorious Downside playing fields when the pupils are on their summer vacation in July/August.

The Club joined the North Somerset League in 1988 and have a 1st XI in Saturday Division 1, 2nd XI in Saturday Division 3 and a 3rd XI in Sunday Division 3. The First XI have won Division 1 a record 5 times in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2004 and 2005 and our 2nd XI won Division 4 as recently as 2008.

The Club has many local players, some who have played for over 25 years, and the majority of players live in Stratton, Chilcompton and the Midsomer Norton/Radstock Area. The Club net at Downside on Thursday evenings at 7.30 and would welcome any potential cricketers in the village to come along and join in!

If you cannot play yourself, then please come along and support us at our matches!

The Club is grateful for the generous sponsorship by both Dickies and Pethericks and Gillard who are vital to its existence, as it doesn't have any revenue from a Club Bar etc.
