I have lived in the village since 1943 and I farm the land around the parish. I joined the Parish Council in 1967 and have been chairman for a number of years. I enjoy my work with the council, which I find rewarding, as we can conduct our business without any political interference. My interests include my business interests, walking and my involvement with the local Rotary club.

I have been a Parish councillor for many years and am currently on the Planning Committee. My interests are walking, reading, singing and I am a member of NADFAS, the National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts."

"I was born in Radstock, educated at Writhlington Secondary School (as it was known then). I've been married twice, four children by a previous marriage, eleven grandchildren. I'm semi-retired, which gives me time to spend with the grandsons who have inherited their passion for football like me both playing and watching (needless to say my playing days are sadly over.) I've lived in Stratton for 40 years both in South Street and Fosse Road in our mobile home (with Norma.) My other interests are athletics in which I ran the 100yards, and threw the javelin (not at the same time!) My passion above all else as everyone who knows me is deep sea fishing. My pet hates is litter thrown in Laybys and other places which is ruining the countryside."

I moved to the village in 2009 after growing up in London and living in Surrey, and joined the Parish Council in 2014. We have all settled into life in the village with my daughter attending St. Vigor and St. John’s. My main hobby is astronomy and the Fosse Way Observatory that submits observations to academic institutions. Other interests include beekeeping and provide a vital quality assurance service tasting beer in the Kings Arms. Since leaving university I have worked in software being involved in a number of sectors including defence, telecoms and retail.

Helen Murtagh, Councillor and Member of the Finance Committee

I am new to the village, having moved here in May 2014 to renovate a house.

I am married with two young children, who attend St Benedict's Primary school and the on-site Mogghill Nursery. I am secretary to the St Benedict's school PTA and run the accounts and administration of my husbands business. I also work part time for the NHS. I am hoping to bring some new ideas and a fresh outlook to the Parish Council.

Born in Lambeth, London and raised in the South East of England, I moved to North Somerset when I was 17 through my Father's work. I have lived in Stratton on the Fosse and Holcombe for the last 28 years. I am a Quantity Surveyor by profession and have worked for several large and small contractors since leaving Norton Hill School in 1971 and spending 5 years qualifying at Bath College. I enjoy many sports, Golf and walking are now my primary activities, but I enjoyed some success as a distance runner in my twenties, once completing the London Marathon in under 3 hours. As a councillor, I am keen to see that our village retains it's individuality, it's services and sympathetic development for the future

I was born in London and lived in Manchester, bringing up 3 children in the city, before realising my life's dream of moving to the country 6 years ago. Living in Stratton has shown me the importance of village life and I would like to support and develop our local community during my time on the Parish Council. I am also on the Village Hall Committee and help run The Bluebird Acoustic Cafe which meets at the village hall once a month on a Sunday afternoon to share live music and homemade cake.
